Taste wine like an expert - a quick introduction, or a re-cap for those in the know, on how to taste wine like the professionals. Making the most of wine – you will learn the basic considerations when pairing food with wine. Mix and match food and wine – with your new found, or brushed-up, skill we will try a variety of food and wine styles, and decide which work and which do not.
The lunch will start with a quick introduction, or a re-cap for those in the know, on how to taste wine like the professionals. Helen will lead you through a tutored tasting of a selection of wines, demonstrating the impact of sweet, sour and salt. Then progressing onto strawberries with and without chocolate sauce, steak and chips with and without salt and sauce, fried fish, chips and mushy peas with and without tartare sauce and lemon, followed by a dessert then cheeseboard – all the while reinforcing the principles of food and wine pairing.
